Time webpagesAs a substitute teacher at the local middle school I found it convenient to have a clock and a countdown timer on my chromebook. The school has no bells at the end of classes, and room clocks can be off by several minutes (or more). I founf good ones online that I had been using, but suddenly a couple weeks ago the clock started displaying multiple popup ads I would have to delete before using. As a result I decided to use my unassigned times to write my own. I did, and since I had the machinery also added a countdown timer and a stopwatch, and a bunch of bells and whistles. So here they are. The design idea was to make the text as large as possible, with no distractions. They are online for anyone to use, and the code is available for redistribution or modification. Here they are:
- clock: more than a simple clock, it has alarm functionality plus alarm sets, where a bunch of alarms can be grouped together. The font size is adjusted to be the largest that will fit the display size. It is very configurable, with colors and sounds, showing the time or the time remaining to the next alarm, 12 or 24 hour display, with or without seconds...
Properties cascade from clock -> alarm set -> individual alarms. I played with it for a week, redesigning and adding bells and whistles, until it became pretty complete. The best free clock on the web!
- timer/stopwatch both a stopwatch, measuring time intervals, and a timer, where it counts down to 0 from an initial value. It is fully configurable like the clock, and also can be set to keep track of time even when the system is sleeping.
